Lysette van Roemburg (1980) graduated from the Royal Academy of fine Art in The Hague, The Netherlands. She works as an independent artist and teaches art. Her inspiration is the female body, focusing on controlled beauty. In her graphic work, she often uses a vernis-mou technique (soft ground etching), where she uses lace, stockings and other fabrics that are pressed in to a soft ground. This results in a beautiful and fine texture on the print.
In her 3 dimensional work, she uses a great variety of materials, including ceramics, wood, stone, bronze and recyclable objects. She shapes these materials into one image. Her choice of a wide variety in materials is a means to come to an image that possesses expressive qualities.
Her art is erotic, sensual and slightly naughty. It stimulates our imagination and makes us reflect on our own fantasies.
